Edu Global: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, scientific rigor, and intellectual honesty. In response to the rapid evolution of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, this policy outlines strict guidelines for authors, reviewers, and editors in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) standards.
Non-Authorship Status & Legal Responsibility
Generative AI tools (including Large Language Models such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or specialized research assistants) do not meet the criteria for authorship. AI technologies lack legal personality, cannot grant copyright ownership, cannot take moral or legal responsibility for published findings, and cannot manage conflict-of-interest disclosures.
Human Accountability Principle
Under no circumstances shall AI be listed as an author or co-author. Human authors bear 100% legal, ethical, and academic responsibility for the entire content of their manuscript, including verifying accuracy, ensuring data integrity, avoiding plagiarism, and preventing AI-generated "hallucinations" or false academic citations.
Detailed Scope of AI Assistance
✓ Permitted AI Assistance
- • Language & Grammar Polish: Improving readability, sentence structure, and correcting grammatical errors in author-written text.
- • Formatting & Style Alignment: Structuring manuscript layout and references according to journal templates.
- • Code Generation for Visualization: Assisting in writing code (e.g., Python, R) for plotting research data graphs.
- • Preliminary Literature Search: Brainstorming themes or identifying keywords (provided sources are manually verified).
✕ Strictly Prohibited Actions
- • Exegesis of Sacred Texts: Using AI to interpret or derive scholarly theological rulings from Al-Qur'an or Hadith texts.
- • Content Synthesis & Drafting: Generating original research arguments, literature reviews, or conclusions using AI.
- • Synthetic Data Fabrication: Creating fake survey responses, qualitative interview transcripts, or empirical datasets.
- • Image & Figure Manipulation: Fabricating or distorting scientific figures, diagrams, or historical manuscript images.
Peer Review & Confidentiality Mandate
Editors and peer reviewers are strictly forbidden from uploading submitted manuscripts into public AI tools or generative platforms. Submitted manuscripts are confidential documents containing proprietary intellectual property. Uploading manuscripts to generative AI systems violates confidentiality agreements, compromises author privacy rights, and risks exposing unpublished data to external training models.
Mandatory AI Disclosure Protocol
If any AI-assisted tools were utilized during language editing or data visualization, authors must explicitly disclose this in the manuscript's Acknowledgments or Ethics Statement section prior to publication.
"During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) utilized [Insert Tool Name, e.g., ChatGPT-4o / Grammarly] solely for the purpose of [Insert specific task, e.g., improving language readability and grammar]. The author(s) reviewed, edited, and verified all generated output and take full responsibility for the content, accuracy, and citations of this publication."
Detection, Screening & Sanctions
Edu Global employs advanced AI-content screening tools alongside double-blind peer reviews to evaluate submission authenticity. Undisclosed generation of synthetic text or data is formally classified as Scientific Misconduct.
Immediate Desk Rejection
Submissions exhibiting undisclosed synthetic text generation will be summarily rejected prior to peer review.
Post-Publication Retraction
If uncredited AI generation or hallucinated citations are discovered post-publication, the article will be formally retracted under COPE guidelines.
Institutional Notification
The editorial office reserves the right to notify the author's home institution regarding serious ethical breaches.
