Purpose & COPE Alignment
Edu Global: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam adheres strictly to the Retraction Guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Retractions and withdrawals are designed to correct the scientific record and ensure public trust in Islamic education scholarship, rather than to penalize researchers.
Author-Initiated Manuscript Withdrawal (Pre-Publication)
Authors may request to withdraw their manuscript prior to official publication. However, submitting a manuscript implies a formal commitment to the editorial process. Unilateral or arbitrary withdrawal wastes significant peer-review and editorial resources.
A. Pre-Review Stage
Withdrawal requests made before the manuscript is assigned to peer reviewers will be granted immediately upon written request to the Editor-in-Chief.
B. Under Peer-Review Stage
Withdrawal during active peer review requires a **compelling, valid justification** (e.g., discovery of fundamental data flaw, ethical conflict, or legal issues).
Mandatory Requirements for Author Withdrawal:
- Formal Written Statement: A official letter signed by all co-authors detailing the exact reason for withdrawal must be submitted to the Managing Editor.
- Official Confirmation Required: The manuscript remains legally active in our portal until the Editor-in-Chief issues an official Manuscript Release Letter.
- Prohibition of Parallel Submission: Submitting the manuscript to another journal before receiving the official Release Letter is strictly classified as Duplicate Submission (Misconduct).
Sancions for Unjustified Pre-Publication Withdrawal:
Withdrawing a manuscript late in the editorial process (e.g., after acceptance or copyediting) simply to submit to a higher-ranked journal without valid scientific cause will result in a 2-year submission ban for all listed authors across Edu Global publications.
Post-Publication Retraction Grounds
Articles already published online will be formally retracted (by Editorial decision or by joint request of the authors) under the following circumstances:
1. Scientific Misconduct
Data fabrication, falsification, image manipulation, or severe uncredited text duplication (plagiarism).
2. Honest Scientific Error
Authors report post-publication discovery of calculation errors or compromised analytical software invalidating findings.
3. Ethical Breaches
Undisclosed major conflicts of interest, lack of IRB ethical approvals, or peer-review rigging.
Formal Investigation Procedure
The Editorial Board reviews concerns raised by readers or authors, notifying key contributors within 10 business days.
Authors are required to provide original raw data files, field notes, or analytical scripts for independent review.
If retracted, the online PDF remains in place but is watermarked "RETRACTED" on all pages, accompanied by a bi-directional linked Retraction Notice.
V. Financial Integrity & Digital Preservation Rules
• APC Policy on Retraction/Withdrawal: Article Processing Charges (APC), if paid, are non-refundable in cases where an article is withdrawn or retracted due to author fault, misconduct, or post-review withdrawal requests.
• No File Removal Policy: Under COPE guidelines, published articles are never physically deleted from digital archives to maintain an accurate scholarly history. Retraction Notices detail who requested the action and the scientific justification.
